My Speech Clinics is a privately owned proprietary limited company and is guided by the privacy recommendations of Speech Pathology Australia. My Speech Clinics is bound by the Victorian State Parliaments Information Privacy Principles that are contained in the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) (IP Act). My Speech Clinics staff value and respect your rights and privacy. My Speech Clinics staff are committed to the protection of your personal details and information.

Electronic and Digital Information.

My Speech Clinics are bound by the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) in respect of health related information. My Speech Clinics are also bound by the SPAM Act 2003 (Cth), which regulates the sending of commercial electronic information such as by email or SMS as well as the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth), which regulates mobile and landline phone calls. At My Speech Clinics, all information gathered from you, and information gained through the assessment and treatment process and received from professional communication and correspondence, is done so with the sole purpose to assess, diagnose, counsel
and to formulate a therapeutic treatment plan for yourself or your child. All digital information relating to your self is routinely backed up on a 6 monthly basis. These records are stored in a separate location to that of our main computer systems.

We understand that some personal details and family dynamics can be sensitive and private in nature. At My Speech Clinics, your information is kept with the utmost respect and privacy. My Speech Clinics may collect personal information from its web site. These websites from time to time, contain links to other web sites within Australia and overseas. My Speech Clinics are not responsible for the privacy practises or the content of such other websites. My Speech Clinics maintain the most up to date electronic firewalls for the protection of stored data on all computer systems. As a statutory requirement our records are kept for 7 years before any information is culled from them.

If other professionals involved in the care of you or your child contact us to procure information, you will be contacted for authorisation for release of said information. Only the most relevant information will then be released. My Speech Clinics and other professional associations may undertake research into the practice and types of disorders being treated. On these occasions, your personal details will not be released to external bodies in any circumstances. My Speech Clinics administrative staff are trained and required to respect the confidentiality of personal information and the privacy of the individual. My Speech Clinics administrative staff do not have direct access to your information, other than the basics necessary for written correspondence and for billing purposes.

My Speech Clinics take all reasonable steps to protect the security of personal information from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. All information, case history and test results at the clinic that you are attending are held and stored under very secure circumstances. If you wish to inspect the case history information at any stage please discuss this with your treating clinician. My Speech Clinics privacy policy will be reviewed annually to consider new laws, technology and changes to our operations and procedures.
